In the market for a large car that's not a death trap?
Buying a used car or giving a child a hand-me-down is the natural choice, especially if college costs may be on the horizon. We have recommendations for the best used cars under $20,000, with many. My cousin wants to buy a secondhand Kia Picanto for her 17-year-old daughter. They've decided they want the higher-spec 2 model. Their budget is £6500-7000. I've been looking online and found a 2-year-old, one previous owner model with 20,000 miles from a main Kia dealer selling for £7295. Here's the IIHS chief research officer on what it takes to earn that designation: 'good ratings in all of our crash tests, plus they’re available with a front crash prevention system rated advanced or superior and headlights that are rated acceptable or good.'
